Better Cotton Membership

We are members of Better Cotton™ and committed to sourcing 15% of our cotton as Better Cotton™ by 2026.

WHAT IS BETTER COTTON™?

Better Cotton™ is a not-for-profit organisation that aims to make the production of cotton sustainable. Making it better for the environment and better for the people that grow the cotton in securing a future in the supply chain. Better Cotton™ operates on a mass balance basis.

HOW DO THEY DO THIS?

Better Cotton™ work with farmers to achieve five ‘impact areas’ to make their farming practices more environmentally friendly and their livelihoods more sustainable. When the five impact areas have been met farmers will obtain the Better Cotton™ status.  The five impact areas are:-

1. Climate change mitigation
2. Soil Health
3. Pesticide use
4. Smallholder Livelihoods
5. Women’s empowerment

HOW ARE PREMIER SUPPORTING FARMERS?

This year we are committed to sourcing 12% of our cotton as Better Cotton™, with the long-term aim to source 15% by 2026. As Better Cotton™ members we are supporting farmers who input material into our supply chain. Products are sourced via a system of mass balance and therefore may not contain Better Cotton™.      Share-cropping is a usual practice in the region and over 80% of Better Cotton™ farmers in the

region are dependent on share-croppers for the labour force.  The family is living and working on the farm.

In return of their labour, they will be paid 25-30% of the profit after the harvest.
